Free Audiobooks @ Lit2Go

What a great find!!  My son loves to listen to audiobooks, so I tried to find some free ones on iTunes. My search led me to Lit2Go from the Florida Educational Technology Clearinghouse where I found thousands of FREE stories, poems, and books in mp3 format!

On the website, you can browse titles by title and author, and you can even search by reading level.  I recommend using iTunes to access the libraries because they are divided into grade levels, although I would caution you that the grade levels may not match up to the curriculum used in your state.  (The texts seem to be labeled for higher grade than they are read in my school district.)

One I thing I really love about this site is that it also offers the text of poem/story/book in webpage and .pdf format.   This feature makes it a great resource for teachers.  I already have plans to use this in my classroom!

Here are a few I recommend downloading (not all are appropriate for young children):

The House of the Seven Gables (I love Hawthorne!)
Anne of Green Gables
"Jabberwocky"
"The Masque of the Red Death" (my favorite Poe story)
"The Tale of Peter Rabbit"
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
