Organizing for Black Friday

I am behind on my Black Friday planning!! Luckily, I have an easy organizational system in place that will help me get everything ready quickly.

To get ready for Black Friday, I do the following:

  • Make a list of the items I want to find. (Electronics, toys, and winter clothing are always on sale on Black Friday.)
  • Save the .pdf files of the ads right away. (They may disappear.)
  • Look at the ads and make a list of the stores carrying my items, the times they will open, and the times that the items will be on the best sale. (A lot of stores will have the several of the same items on sale. If Store A has three items I want, and Store B has only one time, then I will mark Store B off my list, even if the price of the item is better. The amount I would save at Store B is usually not going to be significant enough for me to try to work it in my schedule. However, if Store B opens at an hour before Store A, I may go there before going to Store A.)
  • Find coupons for the stores I want to visit.

As I gather all my BF info, I place it in an accordion folder. Each section will contain the ads, coupons, and any information I have for the stores I plan to visit. On BF, I'll keep the accordion folder in my car.

I plan to keep my list in a pocket folder that I will take into each store. Before I go in, I will take the ad and coupon for the store out of the accordion folder and place it in the pocket folder. The folder might seem like an unnecessary step, but last year, I just stuffed everything in my purse, and I don't want to do that again. Once I am back in the car, I'll place my receipt and ads in the accordion folder.

The accordion folder worked great for me last year! I was in and out of the stores faster than I've been. I'm hoping that the pocket folder will make my day even easier!

I'd love to hear your Black Friday organization methods!

My son is anxiously awaiting the release of Santa Buddies, so I will definitely be picking this up. I love these combo packs -- and of course the awesome coupons Disney has been having for them!! The digital copies are on my laptop and iPhone for when we travel, and the DVD stays at home.

Visit Moms Need to Know to find out about a $5 rebate for Santa Buddies!

Are You Ready for Black Friday?! I am!!

If you visited me last year at this time, you know that I LOVE Black Friday!! Something about the anticipation while standing in line at 4:00 a.m. and the rush of excitement when you get those sales items...!

To fully take advantage of Black Friday shopping, you have to plan, plan, plan, and that means you can't wait until the ads are in the paper. That's why I love sites like Bfads.net and Blackfriday.info that post ad scans and highlight deals ahead of time.

Right now you'll find ads from Target (!), Kohl's, Old Navy, Sears, Lowe's, and many more. I highly suggest that you save the ads to your computer in case the companies ask that their ads be removed.

Just for fun, I want to share the post about my experience last year. I have to say it was quite a lot of fun and made for a fun story!

I have to say that my Black Friday shopping was a success. I was able to get all the items on my list, as well as a bunch of items that weren't on my list. (Yes, I am a Black Friday impulse shopper!) Luckily, several of the impulse items are perfect gifts for some of the people on my list...and some are perfect for me. Ha!

Here's a brief rundown of my experience:

12:30 a.m. - Took a nap on the couch. Held my phone so that I would not miss the alarm.

3:00 - Woke up, took shower, and threw on clothes.

3:40 - Left for Walmart. Ate two organic waffles and drank some Dr. Pepper on the way.

4:05 - Got to Walmart. Saw that people already had items in their carts, so I started "grabbing" t00.

4:05 - 7:30 - Wandered around Walmart looking for my items, waited in a wrong line for an hour, tried to avoid being filmed by the local station, almost got jumped for moving a woman's cart 1/4 inch for someone else because it was blocking the aisle...

7:30 - 7:45 - Wandered around the parking lot IN THE POURING RAIN looking for my car because I totally forgot where I parked. Finally went inside and called a wonderful friend who left Target to come help me find my car. Her wonderful daughter and her bff's wonderful daughter (who is also my wonderful student) helped too.

8:00 - 12:20 p.m. - Visited Target, Best Buy, Children's Place, Walgreens, and NY & Company.

12:30 - Ate a whole pizza by myself then crashed.

2:00 - 7:00 - Slept!

10:30 - 2:30 a.m. - Shopped online at Target, Children's Place, Magazines.com, Best Deal Magazines, and Shoebuy. (Got double cashback from ebates plus great deals!)

(Btw, I shopped at CVS and CircuitCity.com on Thanksgiving Day.)

My friend and I still laugh about her having to "rescue" me in the rain! I promised her I wouldn't make her do it this year, but she said she was going to be on standby anyway. Ha!

Next Thursday, I'll tell you about my Black Friday organizational methods. I tried a new method last year, and I was quite pleased. I can't wait to share it with you!

Awesome Recipe - Jean's Chicken Taco Soup

Need an super tasty, very easy dish for these cool fall days? Well, I have one for you!

My momma created the following recipe and gave it to me the other day when I said I wanted some taco soup. She said it was yummy, and boy, was she right!!

Jean's Chicken Taco Soup

  • 1 can of whole corn, drained
  • 1 can of can of black beans
  • 1/2 env of taco seasoning
  • 1 cup of salsa
  • 2 -3 tbsp of diced chili peppers

Directions

  • Seperate chicken with a fork so that it's not all clumped together.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large pot.
  • Heat until hot.

  • **Add cheese and sour cream as desired. I also add tortilla chips to the bowl before I pour the soup in.

    ***Makes about 6 servings

Wii Games Deal at Target - EVEN BETTER NOW!

This post is an update of a previous post.

If you are looking to buy some of the hottest Wii games for this Christmas, you will want to take advantage of Target's current deal -- Buy two games (choose from over 80 titles)and get the 3rd free!

I'd originally thought the best deal was buying them online using this information:

This deal is also available online, and it is included in the free shipping on orders over $50, so you'll pay $108.71 (includes my estimated tax) for three titles, which equals to $36.24 for each game! FYI: You'll get 4% if you go through Ebates.

HOWEVER...

I just read posts on My Frugal Adventure and It's Hip to Save! (thanks to "Deal"icious Mom for pointing them out!) that explain how to get 3 games for $20 and 6 for $69! Each scenerio involves using the $10/2 Wii games Target printable found here (scroll down to find it).

UPDATE - 11/4: I bought 5 $19.99 games and 1 $14.99 game, used 3 $10/2 coupons, and paid $49.96.

WOW!

Visit Dell.com TODAY to get the Wii console for only $179.99 -- that's a savings of $20!. You will have to put the Wii in your cart before you can see the sale price because they can not advertise the Wii for less than $199.99. According to Bfads.net, you will not a see a Wii for less than $199.99 on Black Friday, though you will probably see bundles for that amount.

Be sure to go through Ebates if you take advantage of this deal so you can get 4% back!

Once you have your console, you'll need games, right?! Take advantage of Target's current deal -- Buy two games (choose from over 80 titles)and get the 3rd free!
