Organizing for Black Friday

I am behind on my Black Friday planning!! Luckily, I have an easy organizational system in place that will help me get everything ready quickly.

To get ready for Black Friday, I do the following:

  • Make a list of the items I want to find. (Electronics, toys, and winter clothing are always on sale on Black Friday.)
  • Save the .pdf files of the ads right away. (They may disappear.)
  • Look at the ads and make a list of the stores carrying my items, the times they will open, and the times that the items will be on the best sale. (A lot of stores will have the several of the same items on sale. If Store A has three items I want, and Store B has only one time, then I will mark Store B off my list, even if the price of the item is better. The amount I would save at Store B is usually not going to be significant enough for me to try to work it in my schedule. However, if Store B opens at an hour before Store A, I may go there before going to Store A.)
  • Find coupons for the stores I want to visit.

As I gather all my BF info, I place it in an accordion folder. Each section will contain the ads, coupons, and any information I have for the stores I plan to visit. On BF, I'll keep the accordion folder in my car.

I plan to keep my list in a pocket folder that I will take into each store. Before I go in, I will take the ad and coupon for the store out of the accordion folder and place it in the pocket folder. The folder might seem like an unnecessary step, but last year, I just stuffed everything in my purse, and I don't want to do that again. Once I am back in the car, I'll place my receipt and ads in the accordion folder.

The accordion folder worked great for me last year! I was in and out of the stores faster than I've been. I'm hoping that the pocket folder will make my day even easier!

I'd love to hear your Black Friday organization methods!

What a great system! I sit Black Friday out and shop all year.

Great suggestions! Much more organized than my plastic bag with all the ads:-)
