My Black Friday Experience!

I have to say that my Black Friday shopping was a success. I was able to get all the items on my list, as well as a bunch of items that weren't on my list. (Yes, I am a Black Friday impulse shopper!) Luckily, several of the impulse items are perfect gifts for some of the people on my list...and some are perfect for me. Ha!

Here's a brief rundown of my experience:

12:30 a.m. - Took a nap on the couch. Held my phone so that I would not miss the alarm.

3:00 - Woke up, took shower, and threw on clothes.

3:40 - Left for Walmart. Ate two organic waffles and drank some Dr. Pepper on the way.

4:05 - Got to Walmart. Saw that people already had items in their carts, so I started "grabbing" t00.

4:05 - 7:30 - Wandered around Walmart looking for my items, waited in a wrong line for an hour, tried to avoid being filmed by the local station, almost got jumped for moving a woman's cart 1/4 inch for someone else because it was blocking the aisle...

7:30 - 7:45 - Wandered around the parking lot IN THE POURING RAIN looking for my car because I totally forgot where I parked. Finally went inside and called a wonderful friend who left Target to come help me find my car. Her wonderful daughter and her bff's wonderful daughter (who is also my wonderful student) helped too.

8:00 - 12:20 p.m. - Visited Target, Best Buy, Children's Place, Walgreens, and NY & Company.

12:30 - Ate a whole pizza by myself then crashed.

2:00 - 7:00 - Slept!

10:30 - 2:30 a.m. - Shopped online at Target, Children's Place, Magazines.com, Best Deal Magazines, and Shoebuy. (Got double cashback from ebates plus great deals!)

(Btw, I shopped at CVS and CircuitCity.com on Thanksgiving Day.)

I'm totally exhausted, but I am already looking forward to next year's Black Friday deals!

I hope you had a successful Black Friday experience! I'd love to hear about it!

AWESOME Seventh Generation Diaper Deal!

I just found Seventh Generation diapers for $7.49 at Kroger. $7.49 is half the usual price of $14.99! I used a $2/1 q from previously requested sample and paid only $5.49! I was going to use this $2/1 IP to get more packs for $5.49, but they only had one size 4. I am going to try another Kroger tomorrow. (Thanks, Angie, for reminding about IP!)

FYI: I'm not sure if this is a national or regional price, but hoping that many others can take advantage of this deal!

$5 Rebate with Minute Maid and Disney purchases

I wanted to remind you about this rebate since WALL•E is coming out tomorrow!

To receive the $5 rebate, you must purchase:

- 2 Minute Maid Juices or Juice Drinks in 64 fl oz. cartons (any variety)

OR

- 10 pack or 15 pack drink boxes (any variety)

AND

One of the following on DVD or Blu-Ray:
- Sleeping Beauty
- Tinker Bell
- WALL•E
- The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The request form has all the information that must be sent in with it.

The cool thing is that you can do this for all 4 movies! The last three have not been released yet, so you should be able to get each of them for around $15. That'll be $10 after the rebate! Great deal with the holidays coming!

Black Friday Ads: Reactions?

The ads that I most look forward every year are Best Buy and Target because they always have great deals on items that I want. This year these two stores have disappointed me.
Target's toy section is suprisingly bare. After scoping out what my Target had large stocks of on the top of the shelves, I was convinced that I'd see some great deals on Fisher Price Little People toys an baby dolls.
At Best Buy, I usually shop for small electronics (love my $30 MP3 player from last year!) and cheap movies. BB has those items this year, but the prices aren't outstanding. I have to admit that I do not know enough about TV prices to say if the prices are good, but my BF research tells me they aren't.
The best ad I've seen is Circuit City's. CC's ad is a classic Black Friday ad -- lots of cheap movies, video games, cameras, an electonic accessories. I've never been to CC first, but this year I'm dragging my husband there too.
I'm interested in hearing what other people think about this year's BF ads so far. Are you disappointed? Is what you're looking for on sale this year? Let me hear from you!

Get Organized for Black Friday

To make the most of the Black Friday sales, you have to be organized. A well-planned day will enable you to get all or most of the items that you want. Below are my tips for organizing during the weeks before BF.

1) Make a list of the items you want to find. Electronics, toys, and winter clothing are always on sale on Black Friday.

2) Look at the leaked ad scans at bfads.net. I'll let you know when new scans are uploaded. Right now, you can find scans for Lowe's, Walgreens, Half Price Books, Harbor Freight, and Kmart. (While you are there, enter their contest.)

3) Save the .pdf files of the ads right away. (They may disappear.)

4) Print out the pages of the scans that contain the items you want.

5) Make a list of the stores carrying your items, the times they will open, and the times that the items will be on the best sale. (A lot of stores will have the several of the same items on sale. If Store A has three items I want, and Store B has only one time, then I will mark Store B off my list, even if the price of the item is better. The amount I would save at Store B is usually not going to be significant enough for me to try to work it in my schedule. However, if Store B opens at an hour before Store A, I may go there before going to Store A.)

I am keeping all of my BF info in a pocket accordion folder.

Each section will contain the ad scans (and real ads once they are out), coupons, and any information I have for the stores I plan to visit. I have already added some labels because I know which stores usually have items I want, and a few already have coupons in them.

On Black Friday, I will keep this folder in my car. I'll move the papers I need for each store into my purse. I'll also file my receipts after I return to the car.

Readers, I'd love for you to leave a comment with tips you have for getting organized for Black Friday!

Kroger ROCKS!

I just received an envelope from Kroger. According to the envelope, I would find "coupons for my favorite products" and "personalized savings." Of course, a lot of things say that, and I always end up with disappointment and lots of coupons that I can't use.

Imagine my surprise when I found coupons for products that I do actually purchase often. Now, imagine my JOY when I saw that some of those coupons were for FREE products!! As in FREE Oscar Mayer lunch meat...FREE 12-pack Dr. Pepper...FREE Pillsbury sweet rolls...FREE Betty Crocker cake mix.

I received a total of 16 coupons, 4 for free products and the rest for various products like Manwich, vitimans, Kroger Applesauce, and Always. They are all manufacturer's coupons, and on the back it states "DO NOT DOUBLE." I'm interested to see if they will still double since they do on other man coupons.

I am so excited about these coupons, and I can't wait to use them! These coupons are just another reason why I have switched to Kroger for my grocery shopping!
